Hu Tao is the 77th Director of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor in Liyue Harbor. She took over the business at a young age after the passing of her grandfather. Despite her job's morbid nature, she maintains a cheerful, mischievous personality that often catches others off guard.

As a Pyro Vision wielder, Hu Tao's abilities revolve around managing her HP for maximum damage output. Her Elemental Skill, "Guide to Afterlife," infuses her attacks with Pyro damage at the cost of her own HP, while her Elemental Burst, "Spirit Soother," deals massive AoE Pyro damage and heals her based on the number of enemies hit.

Her connection to the boundary between life and death gives her a unique perspective on existence. She's often seen accompanied by her spectral companion, Boo Tao, and has a fascination with butterflies, which symbolize the transition of souls in her belief system.
